I have a leak from my kitchen/bathroom faucet - what should I do?

A dripping faucet is often caused by worn cartridges, washers, or O-rings. Ensure the faucet is turned off and check for visible damage. If the leak persists, contact Macca Plumbing & Heating — we can inspect and replace any worn parts. Also, contact the manufacturer, they may provide replacement parts free of charge.
I have a leak under my sink - what should I do?

First, open the cabinet under your sink and try to identify the source of the leak. Common areas include the drain, garbage disposal, water lines to the dishwasher, or the sink itself. Next, locate the shut-off valve for the sink (or the main water supply) and turn it off to prevent further damage. If you can identify the source of the leak, that’s helpful — but if not, don’t worry. Contact Macca Plumbing & Heating and provide any details you observed. We’ll send a technician to inspect and repair the issue safely and efficiently.
My garbage disposal isn't working - what should I do?

If you flip the switch and nothing happens, don’t panic! Start by checking your breaker to make sure it hasn’t tripped. Next, try pressing the reset button on the bottom of the disposal. Still no luck — or hearing a humming sound instead? That usually means it’s jammed. Turn it off and give us a call!
My toilet won't stop running - what should I do?

A running toilet can be caused by a loose flapper, worn out chain, or faulty fill valve. Start by lifting the tank lid and checking the flapper is seated properly and the chain is not loose. If it is still running after checking those items, call us for service. You can turn the water off to the toilet in the mean time to save on your water bill!
You received a notification from the MDC about your backflow test — what does it mean?

Receiving a notice from the MDC about your backflow test is completely routine. This requirement helps ensure your home’s water supply remains safe and free from contamination. The MDC requires certain properties to have their backflow prevention devices tested annually by a certified plumber.
At Macca Plumbing & Heating, backflow tests are $156.00 and include a copy of the test results sent directly to both you and the MDC for your records.
I have no hot water - what should I do?

Let’s start with a few quick checks. Make sure your water heater’s power or gas supply is on, and check that the pilot light (if you have one) hasn’t gone out and there are no leaks from the water heater. If everything looks normal but you’re still getting cold water, call us!
What is included with a boiler service and when should I have it done?

A boiler service includes a comprehensive inspection, cleaning, and performance check to ensure your system operates safely and efficiently. During the visit, our technician will examine key components, check for leaks, test safety controls, clean the burners, and confirm proper system operation. For optimal performance and longevity, it is recommended that your boiler be serviced annually.
What does a water shut off look like?

Your main water shut-off valve is typically a round wheel handle or a lever handle located where the water line enters your home — often in the basement, utility room, or near the water meter. A round handle turns clockwise to close, while a lever handle should be turned perpendicular to the pipe. If you’re unsure where yours is or how to shut it give us a call.
How do I get my toilet/faucet/vanity replaced?

Macca Plumbing & Heating is happy to assist with fixture replacement. While we do not supply new fixtures directly, we work closely with Plimpton & Hills, a trusted local supplier. Customers can visit their showroom to select a fixture, which will then be quoted to Macca Plumbing. Any available discounts are passed directly to you. Once the quote is approved, we will order the fixture and schedule your installation upon its arrival.
Alternatively, you may supply your own fixtures as well. Once you have the fixture, contact us to schedule the installation. Please note, there is a $35 disposal fee to remove old toilets when using this option.
What are your hourly rates?
The minimum charge for a residential service call is $147.00, which includes the first half-hour of labor. Additional labor is billed in 15-minute increments at $39.00 per 15 minutes. For information on other services or pricing, please contact our office directly.
